Oklahoma schools closed, shift to remote learning Wednesday due to winter weather

Below is an overview of closures in Oklahoma

Kept us up to date ALL DAY. DAVID, WHAT ARE THE LATEST? SO THE LAST RIGHT NOW, IF YOU JUST GET HOME NOW AT 5:00 AM IS OUR WINTER STORM WARNING. CONTINUE. BUT AS YOU LOOK OUT I WANT IT TO SNOW FOR A VERY LONG TIME AND OFFICIALLY SINCE AT LEAST 3 AM. AN INCH OF SNOW HAS BEEN REPORTED AT WILL ROGERS WORLD AIRPORT BUT WE STILL HAVE SNOW TO CONTINUE HERE FOR A FEW MORE HOURS. YOU CAN SEE THE STRIPS OF SNOW WHERE IT IS HEAVIEST. THIS IS THE DARKEST BLUE. SO WE SEE IT FROM NORMAN TO SULFUR. ARDMORE IS HEADING TOWARDS SEMINOLE AND WE ARE SEEING ANOTHER HEAVIER BAND OF SNOW IN SOUTHWEST OKLAHOMA HAS REALLY BEEN FAR WEST AND SOUTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA THAT HAS PICKED UP THE MOST SNOW THIS SOON ‘NOW. SO FAR. AND LIGHT SNOW FROM EDMOND. IT TAKES UP A LITTLE AS YOU MOVE DOWNTOWN AND THEN AS YOU PASS GOLDSBY TOWARDS GOLDSBY SLAUGHTERVILLE LEXINGTON AND HEAD EAST HERE. LET’S CHECK WITH CHRIS LEE CHRIS LEE. HOW ARE THINGS RIGHT NOW IN OKLAHOMA COUNTY? DAMON THIS IS THE EXTENSION OF BROADWAY WHERE LOOKING SOUTH AT 63RD STREET AND LIKELY LESS THAN AN INCH OF SNOW HERE. I STARTED THIS MORNING AT 8:30. IT’S JUST STARTING TO SNOW IN EDMOND. WE JUST DID KIND OF A LOOP THROUGH EDMOND AND IT’S MORE THAN IT’S A HALF RAIN, HALF SNOW, VERY MUDDY TYPE. I DON’T KNOW IF YOU SEE IT ON THE WINDSHIELD, BUT IT’S EARLIER. THERE WAS ENOUGH SNOW. THERE WAS SOME KIND OF BLOWING ON THE WINDSHIELD AND NOT HITTING THE WINDSHIELD DURING THE HEAVIEST SNOW PERIOD. SO NOW IT IS LITTLE EVEN MIXED THAN BEFORE. STILL NOTHING TO WORRY ON THE ROADS. I WAS LOOKING FOR A LOT OF TIMES AS THE SNOW STOPS, YOU GET SOME KIND OF FLASH AT THE END WHERE YOU GET BIGGER SNOWFLAKES AND A LITTLE HEAVIER BAND OF SNOW. THIS DOESN’T SEEM TO HAPPEN AS YOU PASS AS IT MAY TURN A LITTLE MORE TO RAIN. BUT NO PROBLEMS WITH THIS PART OF THE ROAD. WE ALWAYS CHECK IN THE METRO AREA. WE WILL LET YOU KNOW IF EVERYTHING AND EVERYTHING GOT YOU KNOW EVERYTHING WILL BE FOR US NOW. IT IS REALLY A WINTER STORM THAT JUST IMPACTS THE ROADS AND IT IS REALLY GOING AS WE EXPECTED. WE ALWAYS SAID THAT, YOU KNOW, THIS WAS GOING TO BE A STORM THAT WAS GOING TO IMPACT THE GRASS. YOU CAN SEE THE SNOWSTICK ON THE GRASS, BUT THE ROADS WILL BE OK AND IT ALWAYS SEEMS LIKE IT’S GOING THAT DIRECTION. FROM EDMOND, AS YOU GO TO DOWNTOWN OKLAHOMA CITY, MOORE, TOWARDS NORMAN, SHAWNEE TO SEMINOLE, AND EVEN WHEN YOU GO TO FAR SOUTHERN OKLAHOMA, THE SNOW CONTINUES. BUT LOOKING AT SOME OF THE LATEST DATA SHOWS SOUTH AND EAST OF I-40 FOUR WILL BE THE AREAS MOST LIKELY TO SEE THE HEAVIEST SNOW FOR THE EVENING HERE. THE MORE WEST AND NORTH YOU GO, SNOW TOTALS WILL START TO BUILD A LITTLE HERE. THE SNOW SO FAR OVER WESTERN OKLAHOMA IS RAIN, BY THE WAY, FROM CLINTON TO WEATHERFORD. A LIGHT BLEND FROM ELK CITY, DIRE, OR TOWARDS ERICK. AND THEN THE MORE NORTH YOU GO, THE LIGHTER THE PRECIP. AND IT IS VERY LIGHT SNOW, MIXED RAIN, NO ICE. PINK HERE MEANS A MIX OF RAIN AND SNOW. SO NICE TO THE FACT THAT WE DON’T MAKE ANY ICE CREAM OUT OF THE SYSTEM. HOWEVER, THE STORM SYSTEM WE SAW HAS A FEW HOURS MORE BEFORE IT’S OUT OF HERE FOR GOOD. IN A FEW MINUTES, HOW MUCH MORE SNOW WILL FALL? MORE
